This product seems to do everything advertised. Half of the family loves it! The problem--it would have been nice if the ad mentioned that anyone over 250 pounds can't use it. The 6'2" over 250 pounds was the person who most wanted this.

I purchased this exact machine (Stamina InStride Plus Electronic Stepper) from Giam, branded with their own name on it. It permits a moderate amount of exercise only, and even at that it overheats in about 15 minutes; when that happens it squirts oil vapor from it's undersized pistons. I really liked it anyway, and would simply let it cool off before doing one or two additional 15 minute workouts. After a month of daily use the heavy cord connecting the pedals together broke. Giam gave me a free replacement cable; however, I purchased 4 more cables because I was certain that the issue would come up again and again. Instead, a major weld in the unit broke, and the unit was irrevocably damaged. I gave up, and purchased a much larger unit, that works great, and barely fits into my workout area. I would say that if you are very light in weight, or you don't wish an aerobic workout, this unit is fine. I am a 64 year old man, weigh 170 pounds, and consider myself athletic. The stepper is mainly used as a means of exercising in home while watching TV. For that it is serviceable. My complaints are as follows; it is squeaky and it has a cheap pulley. Recently the pulley on my stepper broke. This will, however, be an easy fix, as I will go to the local hardware store and upgrade the machine by installing a metal pulley instead. I am surprised that they used a plastic piece at the main friction bearing part of the machine.
Otherwise, it is compact and you can work up a sweat on it, so it does the job.
